English Radio in Spain
One thing that is important to expats living in Spain or even tourists on holiday is access to a good, entertaining and informative radio station. Sadly there are very few that meet this criteria, but there is certainly one that does.
Talk Radio Europe is a radio station with is headquarters in San Pedro de Alcantara, from where they broadcast to many key areas of Spain.
People living in (or visiting) Gibraltar, Costa del Sol, Almeria, Murcia, Costa Blanca and Mallorca are lucky enough to be within the broadcast area of Talk Radio Europe.
Their daily schedule offers everything from light hearted chat and interviews, to serious news and political debates, as well as local news and music. Plus they are the only Talk Radio station in Spain that broadcasts live sports commentary in English.
It is a radio station that actively encourages audience participation from people within all areas of its coverage and is a great platform for people to learn about other areas of Spain.
Things kick-off at 8am with ‘Wake up with Hannah’ the breakfast show presented by Hannah Murray, which includes light hearted chat, news, weather, travel news, interviews, music and competitions. Next up at 10am (apart from Tuesdays, which is the popular / controversial discussion show / debate, Viewpoint ) is Bill Padley presenting ‘Let’s Talk’ where you will hear topical interviews, chat and news. Following Bill is Stephen Ritson for the latest Spanish news and discussions which leads in to ‘Lifestyles’, a daily magazine show presented by Selina McKenzie where you will hear a mix of music, interviews, chat and competitions. After Selina is Howard Brereton for the main Spanish news items of the day accompanied by a little bit of Spanish music. Dave Hodgson is next for some more music, chat and interviews (except Friday when Giles Brown does a men’s magazine show). Evening programming starts after this with a selection of different shows and presenters including Dom Aldworth for sport and Kenny Jones for in-depth interviews on more controversial topics.
