Useful information about the Costa del Sol in Southern SpainA holiday on the Costa del Sol The Costa del Sol is still one of the busiest and most popular holiday resorts in the whole of Spain. It has one of the best all year round climates and has a great choice of holiday resorts to choose from. Whether you are a family looking for a funfilled holiday, a couple looking for a romantic break in the sunshine or a group of friends looking for a resort with plenty of nightlife, the Costa del Sol is the perfect choice for everyone. The Costa del Sol stretches from the holiday resort of Nerja in the east to Algeciras in the west. Right along the coast are many different holiday resorts on the Costa del Sol. The original holiday resort on the Costa del Sol was Torremolinos and is still as popular now as it was back in the seventies. Although it is a little more built up than some of the other holiday resorts on the Costa del Sol it offers plenty of things to keep the most demanding holiday maker amused. The weather on the Costa del Sol is superb with temperatures exceeding 39 degress celcius in the summer months and rarely dropping below 15 degrees in the winter. During the summer the weather on the Costa del Sol is pretty much sunshine all the way through. There is very little rain in the summer but if you are unlucky enough to wake up to rain, you can be rest assured that it will fade away as quickly as it arrived. The winter has changed over the last decade or so and during the months of January through to April you are likely to see some rain which can be heavy at times.
Access to all of the holiday resorts on the Costa del Sol is very easy. There is now a choice of airports depending where on the Costa del Sol you are planning to stay. Most people still use Malaga airport as is is a maximum of 90 minutes from the furthest holiday resort on the Costa del Sol. However, if you are staying down towards Estepona or further west to Sotogrande then you could also consider Gibraltar Airport as it is actually closer than Malaga Airport. That aside, access to all holiday resorts on the Costa del Sol from Malaga Airport has become even easier with the new A7 / AP7 toll road which runs from just before Fuengirola right through to Algeciras. The N340 is still highly used although it can get very busy around the approach to Fuengirola from Benelmadena and at San Pedro just west of Marbella, Booking a holiday on the Costa del Sol will provide you with a great choice of hotels, holiday resorts, restaurants and activities to keep you thouroughly amused for the duration of your stay. Getting around the Costa del Sol is also easy. There is a bus service that operates from most holiday resorts on the Costa del Sol and a train service that runs from Malaga to Fuengirola. However, most people coming on holiday to the Costa del Sol book a car rental so that they are in control of their travelling. Due to the competition on car rentals on the Costa del Sol the prices are relatively good. Marbella - Once famous for being a holiday resort for the rich and famous, the holiday resort of Marbella is now popular for people from all walks of life and nationalities. It is a truly cosmopolitan holiday resort with something for everyone. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in Marbella as well as many activities for children Estepona - On the western side of the Costa del Sol Estepona is a more authentic and Spanish part of the coast.
