Mijas

Picture a perfect white village in the hills of Andalucia overlooking the Mediterranean with winding streets and donkeys pulling carts around the street. Imagine numerous restaurants some with spectacular views out towards the sea.

Well it is a mythical village the above closely describes the village of Mijas on the Costa del Sol.

As you head inland from the busy and popular holiday resort of Fuengirola you start to head up a steep road until you suddenley come upon what can only be described as a typical Andalucia pueblo complete with whitewashed houses and winding cobbled streets.

It is no wonder that Mijas Pueblo became such a popular holiday resort and of course a popular area with expats purchasing property. Although it is inland it is still just 15 minutes from the beaches at Fuengirola and within very easy reach of both the toll road (AP7) and the motorway (A7 / N340).

Access from Malaga Airport is also nice and easy and journey time would be around 25 minutes.

There are many walks to take advantage of in Mijas and of course there is the traditional donkey and cart ride through the village. If eating is your thing then you will not be disappointed as there is restaurant after restaurant from traditional Spanish and tapas bars through to Italian and modern International cuisine.

Most accommodation in Mijas is self catering either in apartments or villas although there are a couple of hotels to choose from on the outskirts of the village.
