So is it true? Is the Spanish property market collapsing?

In short...No it's not, in fact it is now a great time to purchase a property in Spain

OK the facts...yes the property orientated listed companies on the Spanish stock exchange underwent a "price correction"...not a collapse.

The Spanish property boom actually finished some years ago, ask any estate agent, they will tell you the same thing. Whilst property could be picked up at prices lower than much of Europe in those years, that boom has finished. Like any market low prices fuel demand and demand pushes up prices as more developers are encouraged to invest in the area.

Don't forget you are not just buying a property here in Spain, you are purchasing a unique lifestlye, you a buying into a country with over 300 days of sunshine a year, you are buying into a country where you REALLY can eat out for under 50€ for 2 people.

As for the properties...take a look yourself. See how many bargains there are to be had from the Costa del Sol right up to the Costa Blanca.

Dont't take our word for it

Chris Mcarthy of Viva Estates has witten a comprehensive response to the recent articles and has given an in-depth insight to the Spanish property market both now and in the past. In my opinion this is a "bible" for Spanish property buyers and really should be read.
