What to do in Puerto Banus

Where is Puerto Banus?

Puerto Banus is located on the western Costa del Sol in the Marbella area about a 5 minute drive from the centre of Marbella, as you head west in the direction of Estepona. It is possible to walk to Puerto Banus from Marbella along the sea front as a promenade stretches pretty much all the way, although it is a long(ish) walk and not really recommended in the hot summer sun of the Costa del Sol.

How to get to Puerto Banus? - Directions to Puerto Banus

If you are heading to Puerto Banus from Malaga Airport you head in the direction of Cadiz once you exit the airport (the sign might say Algeciras). Basically you need the N340 / A7 and you stay on this road all the way as it runs right past Puerto Banus. Much before you reach Puerto Banus, in fact about 15 or 20 minutes after you have left the airport, you will need to make a decision at the Mijas / Fuengirola section of the N340 / A7 whether to stay on the coast road (which bears off to the right) or continue straight ahead and use the AP7, which is the toll road ("P" standing for Peaje or "Pay"). In the summer I would be inclined to take the toll road as it tends to be much quieter than the coast road. Eitherway, you will come to the same place as the toll road will rejoin the coast road just before Marbella. Once you reach the Marbella section of road you need to keep going until the coast road and toll road split off in different directions again. This time do not stay on the toll road but bear off right for the N340 signposted San Pedro. You will immediately go through a tunnel and once out the otherside you will be about 10 minutes from Puerto Banus. There are various exits for Puerto Banus depending upon what part you require. The first exit is the Istan / Puerto Banus exit and is for eastern side of Puerto Banus. The turning after this one is the exit for central Puerto Banus. Be sure to go right after the exit or you will head up instead of back under the N340 via a small tunnel. If you do by any chance miss the right turn you will come to a roundabout so just go right round and back down.
