If you are travelling from an EU country then all you need is an up to date passport. For peace of mind if travelling from the UK we would recommend that you bring the replacement to the old E111 form which is now called The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). This will allow you emergency healthcare in Spain without incurring any costs. It is always worthwhile taking out some form of travel insurance to cover loss of luggage or repatriation should you be unlucky enough to have a serious accident.
